Toyota Kirloskar Motor will enter the compact SUV segment with the Urban Cruiser. Scheduled to be launched in India during the upcoming festive season, the new Toyota Urban Cruiser will rival the likes of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and Ford EcoSport. The Urban Cruiser bookings had opened on August 22 for a token amount of Rs 11,000. The new Toyota Urban Cruiser is available in three variants and nine colour options (six monotone and three dualtone).

The Urban Cruiser gets the same BS6-compliant, 1.5-litre, petrol engine that powers the Vitara Brezza. The motor develops maximum power of 103bhp and peak torque of 138Nm. The transmission options include 5-speed MT and 4-speed AT. The Urban Cruiser AT is equipped with the smart hybrid system like the Vitara Brezza AT.

The new Toyota Urban Cruiser has three variants -- Mid, High and Premium. The customers can choose between MT and AT in all of them. Below are the monotone and dualtone colour options in the compact SUV.

The new Toyota Urban Cruiser looks similar to the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. However, few cosmetic tweaks have been made to the front. The 2-slat wedge-cut grille and the trapezoidal fog lamp cluster are new. The front bumper has been redone as well. The dual-chamber LED projector headlamps with dual-function LED DRLs-cum-indicators, LED fog lamps, split LED tail lamps and the 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels have been borrowed from the Vitara Brezza.

The Urban Cruiser's cabin has a dual-tone dark brown theme, something that you don't find in the Vitara Brezza. But this is it. Everything else is identical to the Vitara Brezza. The engine push start/stop button and automatic AC are standard across all the variants of the Urban Cruiser. Also available are features like Smart Playcast touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Carplay compatibility, multi-function steering wheel, electrochromic IRVM and cruise control.
